Last week, President Trump announced that the U.S. would be raising tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports to 25 percent from 10 percent, with threats of further tariffs on additional goods. Several U.S. business groups — most notably the National Retail Federation, the retail industry's top trade association — voiced their opposition to increased tariffs, warning of potential job losses and rising prices for consumer goods as a result of the tariffs.
