Symphony Commerce, a commerce-as-a-service platform provider that works with enterprise-level retailers, won the Shop.org Digital Commerce Startup of the Year competition during the National Retail Federation's Annual Convention and EXPO yesterday.
Corresponding with the growing number of mobile users among shoppers, retailers overwhelmingly agree mobile must be the No. 1 priority for their digital business in 2014. According to the 2014 Shop.org/Forrester Research State of Retailing Online survey, which surveyed 70 retailers in October and November 2013, more than half (53 percent) marked mobile efforts as a top priority, identifying responsive design, mobile site optimization and tablet redesign among key focus areas.

Retail industry veteran Vicki Cantrell will join the National Retail Federation as senior vice president, communities and executive director of Shop.org on Oct. 31. Cantrell has held prominent positions at Giorgio Armani, Gucci and most recently Tory Burch, where she served as COO and CIO during a period of significant expansion.
