Online Price Matching is Great, but Will it Help Boost Toys "R" Us Sales?
Last week, Toys"R"Us announced its intent to upgrade its price-matching policy on items available in its Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us stores to include select online retailer pricing. RetailWire reports on the announcement and wonders, despite price matching major competitors such as diapers.com, BestBuy.com and Amazon.com, if the move will be enough to help reverse Toys"R"Us' sliding sales.
"We want to take away any concerns our customers might have about maximizing their budgets," said Richard Barry, Toys"R"Us' executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, in a statement. "With online shopping growing rapidly, the addition of online competitors to our already strong Price Match Guarantee enables consumers to take advantage of our vast assortment of toys and juvenile products, while being assured they are getting the best price."
What do you think of the retailer's move to match the prices of its online competition? Let us know by commenting below.
