Chicago -- The third annual Mobile Audit, released Thursday by e-commerce and digital marketing company Acquity Group, found that mobile adoption is on the rise. In fact, the percentage of retailers with a mobile site reached 37% in 2011, up from 12% in 2010 and only 4% in 2009 – a 210% increase over the past year alone. The survey also found that one in four retailers have at least one mobile app, with nearly a quarter developing for the iPhone, followed by Android (10%). Amazon-owned Soap.com has begun selling grocery goods. Unlike Amazon Fresh, which delivers a full range of groceries via an elaborate system of delivery trucks, Soap.com‘s selection is limited to approximately 10,000 nonperishable items such as cereal and coffee.
Amazon is expanding its test of shipment lockers that it started last month in its hometown of Seattle to New York City. According to published reports, the online retailer is testing the buy online/pick up in store lockers at Rite Aid, Gristedes, and D'Agostino locations throughout the Big Apple. The retailer began piloting in-store pick up lockers at a 7-Eleven location in Seattle in early September. Since the initial pilot, tests have expanded to the UK and now Manhattan. New York City -- While 43% of smartphone owners have installed and used a retailer's app, only 14% of those who installed them say the app led to a purchase decision, according to the most recent Retrevo Pulse Study, an ongoing study of tech industry trends conducted for the consumer electronics shopping and review site. A new research report, 2011 Temkin Trust Ratings, examines the level of trust that consumers have in 143 large U.S. companies. The research is based on a survey of 6,000 U.S. consumers, who rated their recent customer service interactions with companies across 12 industries. Only eight companies earned "very strong" ratings while 26 earned "very weak" ratings.
