eBay Loses Motion to Dismiss 'Featured Plus' Lawsuit

eBay lost its motion to dismiss a lawsuit by a seller over its Featured Plus listing upgrade. According to Courthouse News Service, U.S. District Judge Susan Illston agreed Thursday that the contract claim can move forward, writing: "Defendants' argument that the contract did not promise "priority" if consumers initiated their search from Core eBay or decided to sort their search results by anything other than "Best Match," ignores that the Featured Plus! description did promise to list Featured Plus! items in a "section at the top of the search results page" without any limitation or description."

Better known as an electronics and appliance retailer, Minneapolis-based Best Buy entered kitchenware retailing when it joined forces with Cooking.com to launch the Best Buy Kitchen Shop microsite. The Best Buy Kitchen Shop is operated by the online kitchenware retailer and adds more than 3,000 kitchenware products to the Best Buy site. "We're always looking for ways to enhance our customersโ€™ online shopping experience, and this partnership delivers more ways to shop when and where they want," said Liz Haesler, vice president of Home Business Group for Best Buy.

Survey Reveals Rise in Multichannel Initiatives, Shifting Revenue Expectations

Retailers are using multiple channels to establish more direct connections with consumers, according to the findings of a recent survey from global cloud commerce solutions provider Digital River. Consistent with the shift to multichannel strategies, the survey indicated respondents are increasingly connecting with customers via multiple touchpoints. Nearly 80 percent of respondents said they were currently using transactional websites, followed by social commerce (55 percent), app stores (50 percent), in-product commerce (50 percent), subscription sales (48 percent) and mobile commerce (48 percent).
