Zara Accused of Copying Indie Artist's Designs

Zara is in the spotlight for allegedly copying the designs of independent artist Tuesday Bassen. The Los Angeles-based illustrator and designer posted the below picture to her over 100,000 Instagram followers earlier this week showing the side-by-side comparisons of her work next to Zara’s designs.

Total Retail’s Take: I get that mistakes happen, but when they happen repeatedly, they're no longer mistakes. Zara has been accused before of stealing the designs of indie artists and major brands alike. Celine refused to show the photos of a new collection in fear that Zara might rip them off. Christian Louboutin sued Zara for selling shoes with the company’s signature red soles. No matter the size or status of who Zara steals from, it’s not right.
