Wayfair App Allows Shoppers to ‘Try On’ Furniture

The new “View in Room” feature on the Wayfair mobile app allows shoppers to see how furniture and home décor will look in any room before they purchase it. Similar to trying on clothes in a dressing room, Wayfair now allows app users to “try on” products via a smartphone camera. By clicking the View in Room button located underneath a product image in the app, the product appears on the screen in camera mode so the user can take the photo of the room with the potential purchase superimposed.

Total Retail’s Take: Many augmented and virtual reality app features require something in addition to your smartphone. Wayfair takes that element out, allowing shoppers to view products using just a smartphone. It’s innovative and extremely useful for the products Wayfair sells.
