This leads me to a more broad discussion regarding the future of brick-and-mortar retail stores. Is it the store-within-a-store concept being rolled out by J.C. Penney? Are retail stores simply going to be showrooms for cross-channel retailers, with consumers ultimately making their purchases online or via mobile device? Do you believe that brick-and-mortar stores will continue to play a vital (and profitable) role in the retail industry going forward, as Jerry Storch, chairman and CEO of Toys"R"Us, believes?
