Off-price department store chain TJ Maxx has launched a new incubator program in partnership with celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger to support emerging stylists. Named “Styled by Runway,” the program provides five upcoming stylists with career-building mentorship, a platform to refine their styling aesthetic, and access to high-end brands through TJ Maxx's premium designer shop, Runway. The five stylists have been selected for the months-long program, which includes a shopping stipend at Runway to help them build a styling closet, access to the department store’s social community, opportunities to enhance their skills and further their careers, and expert mentorship from renowned celebrity stylist Erlanger.
Total Retail's Take: As the nation's largest off-price retailer, with more than 1,300 stores, TJ Maxx prides itself on being a leading fashion destination for consumers on a budget. This model is in demand as consumers grapple with a number of economic headwinds. And by supporting emerging stylists in the fashion world, TJ Maxx gains credibility in the fashion community and with consumers who appreciate its willingness to help others live their dreams.
"We're endlessly inspired by the looks we see created using incredible pieces discovered at Runway, and this program is a testament to that," said Christina Lynch, vice president, marketing director, TJ Maxx, in a company press release. "We're thrilled to share our Runway platform, uplift these aspiring stylists and provide them with access to incredible fashion and meaningful support. At TJ Maxx, we're proud to celebrate and support women to be and express their most authentic selves."
