Michelle Quinn, CFO of THT Designs, will serve as president of Synergy4.
The Parent Co.: The owner of the My Twinn and PoshTots catalogs has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company has hired the investment banking firm Oppenheimer & Co. to explore strategic alternatives, including the sale of some or all of its businesses.
Superior School Supplies: The cataloger of office supplies, furniture and equipment has sold its catalog sales and distribution division to KK
Office Solutions.
Office Depot: The multichannel merchant of office supplies, furniture and electronics will be shuttering 112 stores and six distribution facilities, resulting in the elimination of 2,200 jobs.
Montgomery Ward: The one-time big-box department store retailer and now an online retailer of furniture, home décor and collectibles, plans to bring back its iconic catalog. The first catalogs will hit consumers’ mailboxes in February, and Ward plans to mail three or four editions this year. The catalog will be aimed at Ward’s older customers. Ward was bought last August by multititle cataloger The Swiss Colony.
Sierra Trading Post: For the first time in its 23-year history, this apparel cataloger had a layoff, pink-slipping 85 employees in January, nearly 10 percent of its workforce. The company’s Cheyenne, Wyo., headquarters were most affected, with 66 employees losing their jobs.
