According to data from Adobe Analytics, Thanksgiving Day e-commerce sales totaled $3.7 billion (28.0 percent growth year-over-year), making the holiday the fastest-growing retail day in online shopping history to date. Of the $3.7 billion in online spend, nearly one-third of it was transacted via mobile devices. This was only the second day we've seen mobile sales top $1 billion, with Cyber Monday last year being the other. Lastly, consumers were spending more online this Thanksgiving — average order values were up 8 percent vs. Thanksgiving Day last year.
"Mobile shopping continues to skyrocket and see increased conversion," notes Taylor Schreiner, director, Adobe Digital Insights. "Retailers understand that shopping and buying on smartphones is now the norm for consumers, and as a result are delivering better experiences and optimization on mobile devices."
