Target has more than tripled the number of Apple at Target shop-in-shops this year, now reaching more than 150 locations, the retailer announced Wednesday. The expanded collaboration gives more consumers a one-stop-shop for Apple products and accessories just in time for the holidays. Members of Target Circle, the retailer's loyalty program, now have access to a four-month free trial of Apple Fitness+ with no purchase required. Target also will have special holiday offers on select Apple Services such as Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and iCloud+, with some including up to five months free, available through Target Circle.
Total Retail's Take: The Apple at Target partnership has seen steady growth year-over year after launching in 17 stores at the beginning of 2021. Last October, Target announced it was doubling the shop-in-shops to 36 stores in time for the 2021 holiday shopping season. This year, the expanded partnership brings Apple-trained Target Tech Consultants and twice the space dedicated to Apple products to 150 Target store locations.
"Guests love the branded and immersive retail experiences we're creating with Apple and other partners including Disney, Ulta Beauty, and Levi's," says Jill Sando, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Target. "With this Apple expansion, we're giving guests even more reasons to choose Target for all their shopping and tech service needs."
As Apple stores are primarily located in major cities, with some states only boasting a handful of stores, Target is bringing Apple products closer to consumers nationwide. Target is adding to its roster of high-profile brand partners, while incentivizing membership in its loyalty program. Apple and Target hope the timing is right for the expansion of its partnership, as consumers have traditionally spent big on electronics during the holiday rush.
