As part of Total Retail's 2024 Retail Technology Report, one of the areas retail executives were surveyed about is the processes within their organizations for vetting and purchasing technology systems. The growing influence of technology across retail businesses, from operations to customer and employee experience, among many other functional areas, requires leadership and decision-makers to have strategies in place for making necessary — and often expensive — investments in their businesses.
Here's a series of charts providing a glimpse into the tech buying processes for the 214 survey respondents — who represented a mix of retail organizations (omnichannel, brick-and-mortar-only, online-only), as well as CPG and wholesale brands, with those companies ranging in annual revenue from $1 billion or greater to less than $1 million.
