Ogio, a designer of bags and apparel, provides some social proofing in its latest email campaign.
Mailer Name: Ogio
Date Emailed: May 16, 2017
Ogio designs and manufactures a variety of bags, backpacks, luggage and apparel for several audiences. Its latest email subject line announces “OGIO Customer Favorites!”
However, this is no mere listing of Ogio's best-selling products. Instead, this email shows actual customer feedback from several sources.
First, understand that customers can rate a purchase based on a range of one (worst) to five (best) stars. From the top of the email, shoppers can click over to Ogio's website to view the top products “as voted by our customers.” A call-to-action button lets them find products based on that criterion.
Second, the next block down shows four items, with each representing a major product category for Ogio. For the Rig 9800 Travel Bag, a customer quote uses some benefit-oriented copy: “I’ve had my 9800 for 3 years now,” one testimonial begins. “Well built and very heavy duty.”
Third, a hashtag, #OGIO, heads the next section. It encourages the email recipient to check out postings with that hashtag on Instagram and Twitter. Four examples are shown, each with an image of a different bag and message. In one, motorcross world champion Tony Cairoli tweets about two of his Ogio products.
The Takeaway
Include testimonials from customers — from whatever source — to build trust for your brand.
