(Some of these off-the-beaten-path metrics are the result of research conducted by Netconcepts for the study Chasing the Long Tail of Natural Search: How to Capture the Unbranded Keyword, published in 2006.).
But just having better metrics isn’t enough. An effective testing regimen also requires a platform conducive to performing rapid-fire iterative tests, where each test can be associated with reporting based on these new metrics. Such a platform especially comes in handy with experiments that are difficult to conduct under normal circumstances.
