Pep Boys announced last week that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Advanced Auto Service & Tire Centers in Phoenix. Advanced, which has operated in Arizona since 1989, has 15 service centers and 120 employees.
“We welcome the outstanding Advanced team to Icahn Automotive and look forward to building on the great customer relationships they have developed over the last 28 years,” said Dan Ninivaggi, CEO of Icahn Automotive, parent company of Pep Boys.
Total Retail’s Take: With this acquisition, Pep Boys is able to grow its service center network in an area of the country where it has less of a physical presence. Because Advanced has been in Arizona for almost three decades, the company has already built strong relationships in the community, and Pep Boys will be looking to maintain and strengthen those existing customer relationships. Pep Boys will be able to leverage these relationships to provide better customer service while expanding its footprint in the West.
