Major retailers have already embraced mobile as a means to increase convenience for their customers. Rite Aid’s RX Alerts program, for example, demonstrates how retailers can put mobile commerce solutions into action. Rite Aid’s program uses mobile solutions to engage, build loyalty and strengthen customer relationships. Customers of the drug store chain can opt in to the RX Alerts system to receive SMS notifications when their prescriptions are ready to be picked up, as well as refill and will-call reminders and other status changes. The program’s success will serve as a foundation for enhanced mobile services to enrich the customer experience.
