Neiman Marcus has named a new chief marketing officer. The Dallas-based luxury retailer said Friday that Carrie M. Fisher has been named senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Neiman Marcus Group. Fisher starts on Oct. 3, and comes to Neiman Marcus from Fossil Group, where she held the same titles at the fashion watch and accessories maker.
Total Retail's Take: Fisher is being brought on to help reverse the tide of stagnating sales at Neiman Marcus, whose future is in question as acquisition rumors swirl. Fisher will be responsible for the marketing and creative organizations for Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Last Call. Neiman Marcus joins a growing list of retailers that have named new CMOs this year, including Target, Macy's, Nordstrom and Kohl's. The task for marketers — connecting with today's digital-first consumers — has proven challenging in today's retail landscape, particularly for those brands built on the backs of brick-and-mortar stores.
