Activewear brand Outdoor Voices has appointed Mickey Drexler as chairman of its board. The announcement follows Drexler's recent departure as CEO from J.Crew. Outdoor Voices was founded by Tyler Haney in 2014.
"Mickey is an expert at building teams and a fantastic leader," Haney told Business of Fashion. "Having him on Team OV gives us an incredible resource of knowledge and experience when it comes to building the next great activewear brand."
Total Retail's Take: Drexler's appointment to Outdoor Voices’ board of directors makes sense. He's been a champion for the athleisure brand since the very beginning, including his most recent leading of a $9 million convertible note (a debt round that's converted into equity at the next round of equity funding) round. Since stepping down as CEO of J.Crew, Drexler launched Drexler Ventures to advise and invest in upstart companies. In addition to his new role with Outdoor Voices, he continues to work with J.Crew in the capacity of chairman.
