Lands’ End has teamed with fashion designer Zac Posen to give Delta Air Lines’ employees a new look. Lands’ End will manufacture uniforms for 60,000 Delta employees — both “above wing” staff, which includes airport customer service ticket and gate agents, as well as the "below wing" staff that includes Delta cargo, ground service equipment maintenance and Delta TechOps employees. Posen designed the above-wing uniforms, and Lands’ End took inspiration from him to design the below-wing uniforms. The uniform rollout is slated for early 2018 after a pilot-testing period where select employees will identify any need for changes.
Total Retail’s Take: The last time Delta uniforms were updated was 2006 and 2000 for above-wing and below-wing staff, respectively. It’s great that Delta is testing the uniforms because American Airlines recently came under fire after employees began experiencing physical reactions like itches, rashes, hives, headaches and swollen eyes when they received new uniforms.
