Kohl's Pay Launches Nationwide

Kohl's announced yesterday that its mobile payment option, Kohl's Pay, has launched nationwide. Kohl's Pay integrates the Kohl's private-label credit card, store offers, rewards and other perks into the retailer's mobile app, which can be applied from the device at checkout. Kohl's Pay works on iOS and Android devices.

Total Retail Talks: Kohl's is following in the footsteps of Apple, Wal-Mart and CVS by launching its own mobile payment solution. The department store retailer has had its struggles as of late, and getting consumers inside its stores remains a challenge. This move to embrace mobile payments is a step in the right direction, giving customers another option to pay for purchases. Furthermore, consumers must first download Kohl's app to use its mobile payment solution, giving the retailer another channel to engage customers (and collect data on them). The bad news? There's still no evidence to suggest that mobile payments will gain widespread consumer adoption, at least any time soon.
