This week, Gander Mountain emerged from bankruptcy protection and reopened stores with a new name: Gander Outdoors. The outdoor apparel and product company was purchased by Camping World Holdings, an Illinois-based network of RV-centric retail locations, in April. Now under new ownership, the newly minted Gander Outdoors is on track to open 55 to 65 stores next year, according to Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis. One of the changes consumers will see from Gander Outdoors is more streamlined, fewer and smaller formatted stores.
Total Retail's Take: Gander Outdoors is counting upon the return of Gander Mountain's loyal customer base as it slowly opens store locations. When listening to Lemonis’ video on Facebook, he's passionate about improving pricing, bringing a seamless experience to his storefronts, and emphasizing "the products in each store are representative of what happens in each market."
"We want to focus on offering products to your location," Lemonis said. "We no longer will have ice fishing stuff in Palm Beach," he joked with his team. You can watch the full video below.
