The merger between Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's has seem to hit a bit of a bump in the road. According to the New York Post, the Federal Trade Commission has asked Bass Pro Shops for more information on its $5.5 billion acquisition of Cabela's, a move that may hold up the deal for up to a few months. Cabela's moved to refile its merger application with regulators to give it an extension until Dec. 29.
Total Retail's Take: I'm a little surprised by the announcement. The deal, which was supposed to be finalized in the first half of 2017, seemed like a good fit for audiences and there didn't appear there would be much pushback from the industry. Hopefully it will be worked out before the Dec. 29 deadline.
