Total Retail’s Take: This is a new reality for indie designers. Zara came under fire a few months ago for copying the design of artist Tuesday Bassen, and this isn’t the first time Forever 21 has been accused of being a copycat. In the case of Bow & Drape, the label’s sweatshirt launched for $59, whereas the Forever 21 “hangry” sweater costs a mere $15.90. Unfortunately, whether original or not, most shoppers are going to go with the cheaper, easier-to-find option.
