eBay announced that it’s updating its estimated delivery dates for seller on-time shipping performance for USPS First-Class Mail and USPS Priority Mail Express. Effective September 1, sellers will have handle time plus three days (instead of the prior five days) to ship USPS First-Class Mail, and handle time plus one day (instead of the prior three days) to ship USPS Priority Mail. If sellers don’t comply, it can impact their on-time shipping and overall selling performance.
Total Retail’s Take: eBay’s new policy has the ability to hurt some sellers right when the holiday shopping season kicks off. Sellers expressed their concerns for the new policy, saying they will be blamed for eBay’s unrealistic USPS delivery estimates. Buyers will be upset if these standards aren’t met and will shop elsewhere if they become disappointed with delivery estimates.
