Women's apparel and fashion accessories retailer Charming Charlie announced last week that it plans to open 14 new locations between March and April, with a focus on Texas, California, New York, and the Midwest. The stores will include Charming Charlie's usual color-grouping merchandise model and offer product categories including apparel, handbags, fashion jewelry, gifts, beauty, shoes, scarves, tech, travel, and more. Charming Charlie plans to roll out additional retail locations nationwide over summer and fall 2021.
"We're incredibly pleased to be bringing Charming Charlie back to its origin city of Houston and continuing to grow in all aspects of our business, especially in light of the challenges businesses have faced in the last year," says Steve Lovell, president of Charming Charlie, in a statement. "We also look forward to reopening in the communities who love the brand most."
Total Retail's Take: Charming Charlie's recent announcement is the second in a series of good news for the Houston-based retailer following its second bankruptcy filing in 2019, when it announced it would close all of its 261 stores across 38 states. Last September, Charming Charlie's reopened its first store, in Atlanta. In 2019, CJS Group LP was the highest bidder for the Charming Charlie IP after 35 rounds of competitive bidding, with a final bid of $1.125 million. The company resumed online operations at charmingcharlie.com in 2020. The new owners announced late last year plans to reopen 15 stores in March 2020, but those plans were delayed by the coronavirus outbreak.
