Welcome once again to Retail Online Integration's "Mobile Mania,” where we select a retailer and discuss its approach to mobile strategy and integration. To meet growing demand for mobile commerce, retailers of every stripe are developing apps optimized for tablets. With that in mind, let’s take a look at Amazon’s Windowshop app for iPad.
The Windowshop interface is designed to simulate the in-person shopping experience. It makes “browsing” the Amazon store a breeze, but that’s about all it does. Windowshop isn’t the greatest app if you’ve got a specific item in mind. But hey, that’s not what it was designed for, right?
Does Windowshop represent the future of mobile for retailers? Would you be inclined to download the app or are you more of an old-fashioned window shopper who prefers to browse with your feet rather than your thumbs?
