Amazon.com announced Tuesday that its Prime Big Deal Days event will return for two days on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9. The 48-hour fall sales event is Amazon’s second Prime exclusive sale this year after July’s Prime Day event. Prime Big Deal Days is exclusive to Prime members and will be offered in 19 countries. New deals will drop as often as every five minutes "during select periods of the event" and select deals are already available now for Prime members to shop early, according to a company press release. Amazon is also providing offerings such as personal deal reminders from Alexa, gift card rewards for opening a new store credit card, and gift guides to make holiday gifting easy.
Total Retail's Take: Amazon is offering a Prime Day event in the fall for the third year in a row. The holiday shopping season has been starting earlier in recent years as retailers push deals well in advance of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Amazon is taking it a step further this year by offering some deals in advance of the October dates for Prime members. As the holiday shopping season extends, it continues to be challenging for retailers and brands to stay competitive on price and promotions. Consumers are becoming acclimated to the e-commerce giant's blowout sales, early shopping access and quick shipping. Amazon said this week it now has over 200 million paid Prime members in 24 countries; big competition for other retailers, but Amazon sellers are surely prepared to make the most of the Prime Big Deal Days event.
