Amazon has already created one shopping holiday to help boost its bottom line, and now, it has another to debut. Today, Amazon is holding its first-ever one-day blowout sale named “Amazon Digital Day.” The e-commerce giant is discounting over 1,000 digital items across its site to encourage post-holiday spending. The retailer will be selling items like movies and TV shows for 50 percent off, and will use the “holiday” to promote its own services like Amazon Music Unlimited and Amazon Rapids.
Total Retail’s Take: The holiday season won’t end! Amazon is again creating a holiday shopping event, this time, a full five days after Christmas. Some criticized the content selection for Digital Day as being older, outdated movies and video games. The same criticism came before this year’s prime Day, however, that ended up being Amazon’s most successful sales day ever (at that point).
