As part of its quest for big growth in sales, Kohl's Corp. is going small, with plans to open new stores that are less than half the size of its typical locations. The smaller version of Kohl's is among several adjustments by the national retailer as it tweaks a sweeping strategy, announced last fall, to revive performance that has been mediocre in recent years.
