Jones Apparel Group Q2 profit more than doubles

Jones Apparel Group said Wednesday that its second-quarter profit almost doubled to $24.5 million from $12.6 million a year earlier. Revenue including licensing income in the quarter ended July 3 rose to $859.6 million from $803.9 million. Jones Apparel shut 41 stores in the second quarter to end the period with 880 shops. As previously announced, the company expects to close an additional 80 money-losing locations by the end of 2010.
