Cabela's to Hire Up to 250 for New West Virginia Store

Cabela’s, a cross-channel retailer of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, plans to hire up to 250 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees to staff its new Charleston, W.Va. store scheduled to open this summer. This will be Cabela’s second retail store in West Virginia. It will showcase thousands of quality products, including hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor gear, as well as outdoor clothing, gifts and furnishings.

Bonobos Raises $16.4M in Funding, Signs Nordstrom Investment and Retail Deal

Bonobos, a brand that sells men’s clothing online, has raised $16.4 million led by retail giant Nordstrom, with Accel Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners participating. In addition to the funding, Nordstrom will now sell Bonobos clothing at a number of its stores and on Nordstrom.com. The deal with Nordstrom will be the first time the brand is available in-store and online outside Bonobos.com and the company’s New York City headquarters’ showroom store.

Report: Best Buy probing Dunn ties to female employee

Minneapolis -- A Thursday report in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune said that Best Buy’s investigations into former CEO Brian Dunn’s personal conduct includes allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a female employee. According to the newspaper, Dunn is said to have used company resources in the course of the relationship. It quoted an unnamed source as saying “the company is investigating multiple complaints that Dunn behaved inappropriately with a female subordinate.” Best Buy announced Tuesday that Dunn had resigned.

Apple Inc. and publishers Penguin and Macmillan have decided to fight U.S. government charges that they conspired to fix the prices of e-books, even as three other publishers agreed to a settlement aimed at lowering prices for consumers. The Justice Department accused Apple of colluding with five publishers as the Silicon Valley giant was launching its iPad in early 2010 and was seeking to break up Amazon's low-cost dominance in the digital book market.

Wal-Mart has postponed its previously announced store openings in Washington, D.C., according to The Washington Post. Initially six stores were slated to open by the end of 2012. Now the company doesn't plan to open its first store in the city until the end of 2013. The retailer faced resistance from activists and opponents, eventually leading to the extended timeline. Only one of the six planned stores will open by the end of 2013.
