Amazon has reached an agreement with the state of Nevada to begin collecting sales taxes on purchases shipped to the state. According to the agreement between Amazon and the Nevada Department of Taxation, Amazon.com will voluntarily begin to collect and remit Nevada sales tax beginning January 1, 2014. Amazon will collect the sales and use tax in the same manner as traditional brick and mortar retailers. Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval said the state would work together with Amazon for immediate enactment of federal legislation that would create a "simplified and equitable framework for sales tax collection." MINNEAPOLIS — Target is investing more than $12 million in schools in 2012 through its library makeover program, and said it plans to give more than $1 billion for education by the end of 2015.
