eBay Loses Motion to Dismiss 'Featured Plus' Lawsuit

eBay lost its motion to dismiss a lawsuit by a seller over its Featured Plus listing upgrade. According to Courthouse News Service, U.S. District Judge Susan Illston agreed Thursday that the contract claim can move forward, writing: "Defendants' argument that the contract did not promise "priority" if consumers initiated their search from Core eBay or decided to sort their search results by anything other than "Best Match," ignores that the Featured Plus! description did promise to list Featured Plus! items in a "section at the top of the search results page" without any limitation or description."

Pier 1 sales up in Q1, expects earnings growth

FORT WORTH, Texas โ€” Pier 1 Imports reported that sales for its first quarter ended May 26 increased 7.9% to $361 million from $335 million in the year-ago quarter. Comparable-store sales for the quarter were up 7.2%. H&M Opening Temporary Store in Miami Beach

H&M, the retailer known for its affordable and fashionable apparel, will open a temporary store in Miami Beach on Friday. Reports are that the store will remain open until September, when the company plans to open a 22,000 square-foot, two-story store in the Lincoln Theatre, which was formerly home to the New World Symphony.

Nordstrom and GQ have announced a multimedia strategy designed to integrate GQ editorial into the Nordstrom online shopping experience. Nordstrom will host an online store that will feature "GQ Selects," a selection of men's products handpicked from the pages of the magazine by the editors of GQ. Beginning with GQ's July issue, the items will be designated in-book, compiled on GQ.com and available for purchase on NordstromMen.com. Retail Job Applicants at Lowest Level Since September 2007

The Kronos Retail Labor Index rose to 4.1 percent in May from an April level that was revised two-tenths lower. The May reading reflected a moderate decline in hiring outpaced by a sharp drop in applications. The level of applications in May was more than 250,000 below its level one year ago, reflecting the uneven downward trend that began in the second half of last year. The number of applications received in May was at the lowest level since September 2007.
