In addition, John Furman who has served since 2003, resigned from the Board of Directors. Mr. Oglesby served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Asbury Automotive Group, Inc. until February 2011 and as Executive Chairman until July 2011. Mr. Oglesby joined Asbury in 2002 as President of North Point Automotive Group in Little Rock, Arkansas and in 2004 assumed the additional responsibility of Nalley Automotive Group. Pittsburgh -- Dick's Sporting Goods announced Monday it will open two new stores on June 13. A store at Bloomfield Town Square, in Bloomfield, Mich., will be the sporting goods retailer’s 20th store in the state. The new store opening at Northborough Crossing, in Northborough, Mass., will be the retailer’s 17th in the state.

Macy's has invested in the future of America by hiring more than 1,000 college and university students for its Executive Development Program (EDP) and for summer internships nationwide. The hires include 730 new college graduates for full-time EDP positions, which is an entry-level step in building a career as an executive with the company. In addition, 326 college students — primarily those between their junior and senior years — have joined Macy's and Bloomingdale's as interns in stores, merchandising, private brand development, dot-com, information technology, logistics, credit and corporate services functions.
E-commerce has been a growth engine for many retailers, but it's been a turbo-charged one for Lululemon Athletica. Net direct-to-consumer revenues for the yoga apparel retailer increased 179% in Q1 2012 compared to the same period last year, reaching $38.4 million. The digital segment's contribution to the company's overall revenues nearly doubled as well, rising from 7.4% in Q1 2011 to 13.5% for the three months that ended April 29, 2012. Delia's, a 113-store national apparel chain (stores in 33 states, almost all in malls), is trying to master finding the sales promotion silver lining inside various Web crash clouds. On at least three occasions over the last several months, the chain's site suffered a non-trivial outage. It happens. But Delia's cleverly turned these outages into a marketing opportunity by sending an E-mail to all of its customers, where the chain apologized for the outage and offered to show its sincerity by offering free shipping on all products—but only for a couple of days, if that.

As part of a steady international push ,Kate Spade New York announced that it intends to buy its Japanese joint venture partner, Sanei International, out of their 51 percent share in the jointly owned company, Kate Spade Japan. This is part of a robust international expansion,which includes recent store openings in the UK, Dubai, and Kuwait as well as further expansion into Brazil with additional store openings in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo planned for this summer.
MOORESVILLE, N.C — Through its charitable and educational foundation, Lowe's has awarded more than $2.3 million in Spring 2012 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grants to 543 schools in 47 states throughout the nation. The grants were given to schools and parent organizations for parent-initiated school-improvement projects benefiting K-12 public education. The projects funded during the spring grant period include technology and safety improvements, library renovations, walking trails, greenhouses, outdoor learning environments and more. “Lowe’s commitment of $2.3 million to Toolbox for Education grants underscores our dedication to education throughout the country,” said Marshall Croom, chairman of Lowe’s Charitable and
