In honor of hitting 1 million Twitter followers, luxury brand Burberry sent approximately 3,000 thank you GIFs to fans last Monday. The thank you e-cards were personalized with followers' names and were tweeted at them directly. NRF: May Retail Sales Slightly Decrease

According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), May retail industry sales (excluding automobiles, gas stations and restaurants) decreased 0.3 percent seasonally-adjusted from April, but increased 4.8 percent unadjusted year-over-year.

 May retail sales, released by the U.S. Department of Commerce, showed total retail sales (which include non-general merchandise categories, such as automobiles, gasoline stations and restaurants) decreased 0.2 percent seasonally adjusted month-to-month, but increased 7.1 percent unadjusted year-over-year.

 Clothing and clothing accessories stores' sales increased 0.9 percent seasonally-adjusted month-to-month, and increased 7.3 percent unadjusted year-over-year. Electronics and appliance stores’ sales increased 0.8 percent seasonally-adjusted month-to-month, and 1.2 percent unadjusted year-over-year.

Study Finds Walmart Beats Amazon on Price

Is Amazon.com being set up to become the showroom for Walmart's Supercenters? New research from Kantar Retail that looked at 36 items from four categories — including edible grocery, non-edible grocery, health and beauty care and general merchandise — found that Amazon.com's market basket basket was 20.5 percent higher than the same items sold in one of Walmart's stores. The research also looked at Walmart.com and found that the same items sold online were seven percent more than if consumers made a trip to their nearby Supercenter.
