Large emerging markets with an active online user base and solid infrastructure offer retailers the greatest e-commerce potential in the near term, according to a new study by A.T. Kearney’s Global Consumer Institute. The study ranks the 10 countries with the greatest potential for e-commerce growth, and China tops the list, followed by Brazil, Russia, Chile and Mexico.

A recent study showed living near a Wal-Mart store was good for property values, while last week we learned that it will also make you fat. At least that’s according to a study published in the American Journal of Public Health that explored the correlation between access to retail stores, low prices and obesity rates. The study, “Obesity and Supermarket Access: Proximity or Price?” concluded that obesity prevalence among shoppers in higher-price supermarkets was 9 percent, or less than half of the 20.5 percent rate evident in the King County, Washington area where the research was conducted.

Amazon's new retail store in Seattle, where the company is based, will be on the ground retail level in one of the three towers its constructing, according to goodreader.com, a site that published the information after receiving a "leak" from one of the architects on the project. MINNEAPOLIS — Target has donated $15,000 in monetary support and product to assist with Duluth flood relief efforts. A $10,000 cash donation was given to the American Red Cross Northland Chapter to support their response efforts. An additional $5,000 in gift cards will be donated to local nonprofit organizations for essentials such as water and food. “When disaster strikes, Target listens and acts quickly to help support the needs of our communities,” said Gregg Steinhafel, chairman, president and CEO, Target. “Our thoughts are with the residents of Duluth and we hope our donation will aid in the community’s recovery.”

The Black Keys aren't shilling power tools or pizza, the band said in copyright infringement lawsuits against The Home Depot and Pizza Hut. The "Lonely Boy" band filed the federal lawsuits last Thursday, claiming Home Depot didn't have permission to use elements of the hit song in an ad promoting power tools and that Pizza Hut misused "Gold on the Ceiling" in a recent ad. Both songs appeared on the rock group's seventh album, El Camino, which was released last year and has sold nearly 840,000 copies. The Black Keys are comprised of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney.
