Destination Maternity cuts Q3 outlook on disappointing sales

Philadelphia -- Destination Maternity said its third-quarter revenue fell 5.3% to $138.8 million. Wall Street had expected $146.4 million. The retailer cut its third-quarter earnings forecast, citing weaker-than-expected sales. Same-store sales fell 2.4%.

Visionworks to open 17 stores in Philadelphia market by end of 2012

Philadelphia -- Visionworks, the largest wholly owned U.S.-based optical retailer, has opened its first store in the Philadelphia area. Located in Deptford Township, N.J., it is the first of more than 25 stores expected to open in the market through 2013. The San Antonio-based retailer plans to open 17 stores before the end of 2012 and additional locations by April 2013. ShopperTrak: Back-to-school sales to rise 4%

Chicago -- Year-over-year national retail sales and foot-traffic are expected to increase for this Augustโ€™s back-to-school season, according to ShopperTrak, with the overall sales number coming in 4% higher than last year. "This increase will follow year-over-year U.S. retail sales growth in 28 of the last 29 months,โ€ said Bill Martin, ShopperTrak founder. โ€œAugust will present retailers with a tremendous opportunity to take all steps possible to maximize their shopper opportunity and increase conversion rates." ShopperTrak reports year-over-year foot traffic percentages have been trending positively since Presidents Day. The people counting company expects the trend to continue through August.

Millennials rely on brick-and-mortar stores and technology equally to access information or to gain insights about a product they plan to purchase, according to a study from Today Info Retail, an Atlanta-based strategy and design agency focused on the control and simplification of buying experiences. Discount retailer Target is partnering with upscale department store chain Neiman Marcus to offer a limited-edition holiday collection, including apparel, gifts and other items. New York (WABC/CNN) - Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick wants to tackle fashion. The Wall Street Journal reports Vick will launch a clothing line of sports apparel Wednesday called "V-7." Vick said the sports apparel line is a longtime dream. It will be sold exclusively at Modell's Sporting Goods stores through the end of the year. The debut of Vick's clothing line comes just weeks after the Philadelphia Inquirer reported he married his longtime sweetheart and the mother of his two daughters.
