Lane Bryant launches new branding campaign

Columbus, Ohio -- Lane Bryant is launching a new national marketing and brand initiative beginning in September with a comprehensive print ad campaign, a fresh and modern brand logo and color palette, with updated in-store visuals, web and social media sites. This will be the company's first comprehensive branding and marketing effort since 2008. Debuting in September issues of select fashion and lifestyle publications, the campaign stars some of the plus size industry's most notable models. The rebranding also includes Lane Bryant's exclusive intimate apparel brand Caciqu.

Coach Pilots Mobile POS in Factory Stores, Boosts CapEx to $184M

Coach has joined the growing group of retailers deploying mobile point-of-sale technology as it seeks greater productivity and transaction throughput in its factory stores. The retailer also boosted its CapEx spending by nearly 25 percent this year, with another significant investment increase planned for fiscal 2013, in part to support technology and digital enhancements. CapEx spending for fiscal 2012, which ended June 30, 2012, totaled $184 million, up from $148 million spent the previous year, according to Coach CFO Jane Nielsen. The retailer projects an even bigger increase as much as 35 percent – for the current fiscal year.

Bharti Walmart puts online on hold

Bharti Walmart, Walmart's joint venture in India, has reportedly ended plans to start online operations and has fired Dippankar Halder, who was in charge of the division. However, a spokeswoman for the company, according to The Economic Times, denied the reports and said that Bharti Walmart will continue to serve its members multiple ways, including through the e-commerce channel.
