Social Commerce Site Wanelo Picks Up Speed

Wanelo, the social shopping site that resembles a well-designed window display, is quickly gaining fans online, despite being largely under the mainstream radar. On Wednesday, the company revealed it had 6 million registered users through its website and application, 70 percent of them visiting the site at least once a month. In November 2012, the site had 1 million members. The service also said that it had a catalog of 5 million products, including items like printed tennis shoes and jeweled in-ear headphones, from 200,000 different online retailers and shops.

79% Drop in Retailersโ€™ โ€˜Shoppingโ€™ Integrations Within Google Searches, Report Finds

There was a 79 percent drop in shopping integrations showing retailersโ€™ products within universal or "blended" search results on Google last year, according to new research from search and social analytics provider Searchmetrics. The drop coincides with Google starting to charge retailers to use its Google Shopping service. The previously free service, which gave retailers the opportunity to have their products displayed in shopping integrations for shopping-related Google searches, switched to a pay-for-inclusion model in the U.S. in October 2012.
