Gap to put more emphasis online and overseas

Online and international will be Gap's main growth channels in coming years, accounting for 25 percent of revenue by 2013. That was the prime message at Gap Inc.'s annual analyst day. International and online sales together comprised just 12 percent of total sales in 2009. Online in particular is poised to explode; the company expects it to double its revenue to $2 billion by 2014. In recent months, Gap has added its first international e-commerce sites. Saligram named OfficeMax chief

OfficeMax said late Wednesday that Ravi K. Saligram will succeed Sam Duncan as CEO, effective Nov. 8.Saligram, 54, most recently was president of uniform retailer Aramark Corp. He will also hold the title of president and director at OfficeMax.Duncan, who also holds the titles of chairman and president, will step down on Nov. 7, but will remain a special advisor to the company until Feb. 28.

West Marine 2.6% rise in Q3 sales

Boating supply retailer West Marine said Thursday that revenue for the quarter ended Oct. 2 rose 2.6% to $172.6 million, compared with revenue of $168.2 million in the year-ago period. The company cited wholesale growth for the improvement.Same-store sales rose 3.7%.West Marine operates 328 company-operated stores in 38 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, and two franchised stores in Turkey.

Office Depot may sell Israeli operations

Office Depot announced late Tuesday it is in negotiations to sell its 46 stores in Israel to department store operator New Hamashbir Lazarchan Ltd. for $47 million. The amount is minus the outstanding debt at time of closing, and the subsequent licensing of trade names and intellectual property rights, said Boca Raton-based Office Depot (NYSE: ODP). New Hamashbir Lazarchan trades on the stock exchange in Tel Aviv under the symbol MSBZ.
