Target Showing Symptoms of a Big Decline

Is Target headed towards the same fate as Sears? Analysis of the discount retailer's latest numbers suggest it's possible. According to a Seeking Alpha report, Target reported a small revenue decline on Oct. 31 of last year compared with the year prior; the firm declared $73.7 billion in TTM revenue, compared with $73.81 billion the same period in 2013. While the drop is far from catastrophic, the numbers show a more troubling picture when held up against Target's top rivals. Wal-Mart, Kroger and Costco all reported multibillion-dollar revenue increases in the same period.

Coach, the New York-based luxury fashion house, said on Tuesday that it would buy Stuart Weitzman, the maker of midrange luxury shoes, for up to $574 million in cash. Coach also said it would retain Mr. Weitzman, the company's 72-year-old executive chairman and creative director, to lead the team whose styles have been in high demand on red carpets and in stores.

Fast-food restaurant chain Chick-fil-A could well be the first retail breach to be publicly confirmed in 2015. Chick-fil-A released a public statement on Jan. 2, confirming that it's investigating a possible data breach at its restaurants. While Chick-fil-A's statement was issued on Jan. 2, the company admitted that it received a report about a potential breach on Dec. 19. After the report was received, Chick-fil-A  indicated that it launched an investigation to determine what had occurred.

Family Dollar Investigates After St. Louis-Area Stores Post Ban on Hoods

A national variety-store chain has started an internal investigation after learning that some St. Louis-area locations are asking customers not to wear hooded clothing.
