Walgreensโ€™ September sales up 5.4%

Deerfield, Ill. -- Walgreen Co. said Wednesday that its sales increased 5.4% in September, to $5.95 billion from $5.65 billion in the year-ago period. Pharmacy revenue rose 4.6%, while front end sales were up 5.1%. Same-store sales rose 3.1%. Wall Street analysts were expecting growth of 4.6%.

British Clothier Jack Wills to Expand US Store Count

British apparel retailer Jack Wills is looking to nearly double its store count in the United States, according to various reports in the U.K. media. The company, which specializes in preppy clothing for young men and women, currently operates 11 U.S. locations and has plans to add eight to 10 stores next year. It made its U.S. debut in 2010, in Massachusetts.

The company got its hands on two refurbished shipping trucks and will be selling its gear on the road, along with some friends.
