Walgreens is following in the footsteps of Target and Wal-Mart in offering a digital edition of its weekly advertising circular that will offer additional items through Walgreens.com and the company's mobile applications. The Sunday circular โ€” viewed by more than 50 million consumers, according to Walgreens โ€” also will get a new look and feel, designed to improve the shopping experience.

American Apparel Opens In-Store Shop in Selfridges

Los Angeles-based American Apparel Inc. announced the opening of a new in-store shop within Selfridges department store in London. Situated at Manchester's Exchange Square, the new 156-sq.-ft. location is American Apparel's second in-store boutique in Manchester, and the companyโ€™s fifth in-store collaboration with Selfridges. The new Manchester shop will be the first location opened by American Apparel in 2012. Currently, American Apparel operates approximately 249 stores in 20 countries. Wal-Mart, Office Depot and Macyโ€™s were the only three retailers listed among the National Association for Female Executivesโ€™ (NAFE) list of the Top 50 Companies for Executive Women. According to NAFE, women represent 53 percent of the employees at these companies, on average. Women make up 23 percent of the board of directors at the NAFE Top 50 vs. 16 percent of the boards of companies in the Fortune 500. In addition, women comprise 22 percent of the executive level at companies in the NAFE Top 50 vs. 14 percent across Fortune 500 companies.

Whole Foods appoints VPs of operations

Austin, Texas -- Whole Foods Market announced that two regional presidents, David Lannon and Ken Meyer, have been promoted to executive VPs of operations, joining the executive leadership team. The company's 12 regional presidents will report to them. In these newly created positions, Lannon and Meyer join John Mackey, Walter Robb, Glenda Flanagan, A.C. Gallo and Jim Sud, expanding the executive team to seven leaders. They will begin transitioning into their new roles over the next month. Lannon will reside in Northern California and Meyer in the Washington, D.C., area. Both will frequent the company's headquarters in Austin.
