Build-A-Bear Workshop posts Q4 loss; to unveil new store design

St. Louis -- Build-A-Bear Workshop reported a loss of $9 million for the fourth quarter, down from a profit of $8.3 million in the year-ago period. Total revenue dropped 5% to $119 million. GNC to Open 300 New Stores Globally

GNC reported that net income for the fourth quarter rose to $37.7 million, compared with $18.8 million a year earlier. Revenue increased 17 percent to $509.6 million in the quarter; domestic same-store sales rose 12.1 percent. In 2012, GNC plans to open approximately 125 net new domestic retail locations, 15 net new domestic franchise locations, 150 net new international franchise locations and 50 net new GNC-Rite Aid store-within-a-store locations.

New York City -- Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSN Inc., is staying at the home shopping giant and is not interested in becoming the next CEO at Avon Products Inc., according to Women's Wear Daily. The report cited a letter Grossman sent to top HSN executives at HSN. Previous reports had Grossman as a top candidate to replace Avon CEO Andrea Jung, who agreed in December to resign.

Sears Lays Off 100, Says Move Doesn't Violate Terms of Tax Credit

Sears laid off 100 workers at its headquarters outside of Chicago, two months after the company got a hefty tax credit for dropping a threat to move its headquarters out of state.
