Google Opens First Store

Google has opened its first ever store, located in London, as an increasing number of digital companies are looking to get closer to their customers. The Google Shop will be based inside U.K. electronics retailer Currys PC World on London's Tottenham Court Road - a street packed with tech and gadget retailers and a short distance from Apple's U.K. flagship store.

Square Rolls Out Chargeback Protection for Merchants

Yesterday, Square announced a new program for merchants that protects them when customers dispute purchases. When buyers contest a charge on their credit or debit card, that money is immediately put on hold. That means the merchant loses the money generated from the sale as well as the product or service it sold. Square is giving merchants in the U.S. and Canada access to chargeback protection, which will cover the money being held in instances of fraud. Meaning, sellers won't lose out on sales that are being contested. Square will cover expenses related to sales disputes up to $250 per month.

Cache Will Cease Operations

A little more than a month after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, specialty women's apparel retailer Cache is throwing in the towel. Advisory and valuation services provider Great American Group, which won a bid for Cache's assets at a March 3 bankruptcy auction, has begun "going out of business" sales for all Cache's retail locations in the U.S., the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. The sale will offer significant discounts on the retailer's inventory of women's apparel and accessories. Select furniture, fixtures and equipment at stores, warehouses and corporate offices will also be for sale.

Scott Jordan wants to save the in-flight catalog SkyMall, but right now the airlines aren't returning his calls, he told CNBC on Monday. SkyMall filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year and Jordan, CEO of ScotteVest, plans to bid for its assets during an auction later this month. "SkyMall's value is entirely dependent, in my opinion, upon deals with all the airlines and unfortunately most if not all the airline contracts with SkyMall have expired or are up for renewal/renegotiation," he said in an interview with "Closing Bell."

PetSmart to Go Private

PetSmart's investors have officially approved a buyout of the company by a private equity firm, setting up a payout to stockholders of $83 per share. In December, PetSmart announced it accepted a bid on the company for $8.7 billion. The company expects the transaction to close on March 11. The buyout means PetSmart will become a private company.
